Having had several items stolen from my checked luggage in the past, I can’t say this surprises me. Especially since the airline and TSA will politely tell you to fuck off if you complain about a theft. What exactly do they expect to happen when you have people rummaging through random bags with no oversight. Personally I’m not a huge fan of the TSA or Homeland security. They do have some balls though. According to the article they have only fired around 300 people for theft. Considering that they employ 43000 people or so (according to them) that makes close to 1% of their employees fired for theft. Not very encouraging. Almost makes me happy to be on the no-fly list.
